What Kind of Media Institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our genre in which our film is based on is documentary genre. The film takes in the real life events which took place in London last summer back in August. This genre is interesting for many reasons including the fact out of the genres in which many films are made there is only a selected few documentary films which are popular amongst award nominations and displayed at almost every possible cinema.
Our film would be screened at mainstream cinema's throughout the United Kingdom. The whole point in our hypothesis for this is that this event was undertook by the eyes of many people. For Londoners they were at the heart of what was going on, while the news channels showed us at home and away from the capital what was going on. The cinema sees a high proportion of youths visiting so this would attract there eyes and they would be intrigued to see our movie as it is a sensistive topic for many teenagers. Also by having an audience in which is middle-aged we see many people who have a split opinion the situation. By allowing the film to be screened across the breadth of the British Isles we see many people understudy what really went on and people's valid views from the big smoke itself.
One company which distributes films is the company based in London called' Kaleidoscope Film Distribution'. The films which they have developed and delivered to a target audience include the hit 'Hooligan'. This film was showcasing the dizzy heights of football riots and hooligans at the heart of the troublemaking football age. This can be linked to our film in a way as we are showing what happened when youths rioted. This is a completely different topic but it showcasing the same genre of film. Also they have produced the award winning film ' Interview with a hitman'. This is slightly different to the film we have produced. This is because overall our film was about riots, while this is an action thriller starring a man who has a incentive to take control over civilization. This distribution company offer a wide range of genres in which films are labelled in, so documentary films are fairly welcome, this is handy as our film falls into this bracket.

Evaluation Question No.1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Our genre fits into the documentary category. With the summer riots happening last year, it is a real life event, looking back at what happened. It fits perfectly as there is plenty of looking back, interviews with people aswell. The opening sequence shows scenes at the heart of the bad scenes last August.
We decided to put Plan B’s new song which is about the riots of last summer. This song goes into great detail to show what happened and his opinion on the event. Also the song represents many youth’s they agree with it. Also the genre is rap music this is the type of music which the culprits listen to.
We decided to interview some of the people sitting down this showed a more laidback approach it meant they would be more comfortable to explain their views and would be in a much more relaxed atmosphere. Other people that were interviewed were stood up this was just as they were only speaking a few words on how they felt rather than going straight into major detail.
We challenged media conventions by using footage from the riots and then have speaking over it. Also while the music played we made sure it connected with what was going on the footage which is did perfectly. By using this media convention and technique it should get more people to watch and is has a more professional look while it includes music which they can relate to and acknowledge the artist who is playing.

Our media product represented numerous social groups. Firstly we had the youths caught up in the riots, these people were at the height of looting, destroying buildings. The whole point of showing the young people rioting was to show how they were at the centre of a storm which was putting alot of places in the London borough under-threat. It shows the youths being caught up in the foray but also we see another side to the teenagers. We have interviewed a number of teenagers who have there view on the riots. These people weren’t necessarlily caught up in the riots so its very important we see a view from someone who is out of the area.
We then represented the older generation by interviewing somebody who was visting a friend nearby. This interview was intriguing as we saw somebody who cared about the area and was shocked to see this thing taking place in an area which is regarded for its community efforts who work together to bring safety to the area. By showing a wiser head when interviewing this person had seen the riots which had took place many years ago, this was good as we saw a comparing incidence. Also by interviewing somebody who is alot older than the people who were rioting is gives us a view in which they would feel if there children would start rioting over the riots which broke out.

Firstly we were new to filming, so it took a while to get used to the camera. Since using more we have developed a better understanding for the controls but also positioning for when we are filming. I for one have seen more than just filming the thing, but the background and positioning of other people has been important. I have also learnt that when filming this opening sequence to a film that working with the Sarfraz we both have to work together and have an understanding for camera skills. First of all we tried doing the film on the weather and climate, but we soon switched this was interesting as by working on the weather to begin we knew that it wouldn’t be suitable. So we decided to think outside the box and chose a topic which would be popular amongst a much wider target audience. So overall there has been a much better rate of progress, now we have completed the filming we now have a better understanding for editing, filming and using a range of resources to make the video even better.
